So how are people in the UK celebrating their big birthdays this summer? We are seeing a big increase in parties at home with home baked food. It may be a long lunch where guests graze for several hours or an afternoon tea party with the addition of some savoury nibbles. The summer allows guests to use any outdoor space you have and this creates a relaxed feel for the celebration. Another big trend this year is for more subtle decorations and less of the big 40 or 60 style products. These are still popular and perhaps one or two are okay but we are finding that many of our customers don't want a big announcement of their age and would rather gently embrace their new decade!
You can very simply decorate your home for a birthday celebration. Bunting indoors and out, balloons of course and why not add some party lights for later in the evening. The big trend currently is for paper pom poms - they create a big impact and are very reasonably priced and simple to use.
You can accessorise your meal with matching napkins and plates and add a range of serving platters and cake stands for added impact. A few table crystals dotted over the tables creates a real finishing touch.
