Baby Shower and Baby Gifts

A baby shower is the opportunity for friends and family to celebrate with an expectant Mum the forthcoming birth of the new arrival to the family. It is normal for a baby shower to take place shortly before the baby is due to be born, but of course it can take place at any time that is convenient for Mum and this sometimes happens shortly after the baby is born. Traditionally only women attend a baby shower but traditions are often broken and sometimes men are permitted. Originally they were held in many countries for the first child only, although again there are many who like to celebrate the birth of all of their children.

A baby shower is a perfect opportunity to bring together family and friends for a celebration, a party and a good time. It's also a lovely opportunity for friends to bring a gift for Mum and / or for the baby. Gift giving is at the centre of a baby shower and so, as it might be seen as asking for gifts if the mother was to act as host and invite her guests, it is normal for a close friend or member of the family to host the baby shower.

Party games are often organised on a baby theme to add to the enjoyment, and games can include things like guessing the baby's date or time of birth, having a "fastest nappy changing competition" - using dolls rather than real babies of course, voting for the most popular name for a baby, or a baby food tasting session.

As with most parties of course there is always food on offer, and it might be that you'd like to provide colour themed tableware - we do both pale and hot pink, and pale blue as well as many other coloursin plastic tableware and many more colours and designs of paper tableware.
