The mantlepiece is a focal point of many rooms just above the fireplace, and it's amazing the difference that a beautifully decorated mantlepiece can make to the look of the whole room. The mantle swag is a traditional Christmas decoration as it would have provided a lovely backdrop to the roaring large fireplaces of the 19th Century in many homes, and would traditionally have been made entirely of natural materials.
