Did you know that the number of Weddings in 2012 increased by 5% on the previous year? An interesting article on the Daily Mail website has lots of facts and figures about marriage including the age of the bride and groom. There is a general increase in weddings across most age groups but the biggest increase is in the 65-69 age group which has increased by over 20%.
The number of divorces appears to be declining and 60% of couples will celebrate their 20th Wedding Anniversary. There are over a quarter of a million weddings a year in England and Wales with about 180k getting married in a civil ceremony rather than having a religious service.
Of course this is all good news for businesses like ours who thrive on the Wedding market and we very much hope that this trend continues! On a personal note, the romantic in me loves a Wedding and it is heart warming that couples of all ages are getting married - finding love in your sixties is really wonderful.
