Wedding ring cushions which are sometimes called wedding ring bearer pillows, have increased in popularity in the last ten years. We are often asked when and how you use the pillow and so we have produced this guide to help.
A wedding ring pillow may be hand made by a member of the family for the bride or a range of styles can be purchased from high quality wedding accessory stores or sometimes from wedding dress shops. The ring pillow will always have at least one small ring attached to it onto which the wedding rings can be tied. Most pillows also come complete with the tying ribbon as well. Most ring pillows are white or ivory. Some are absolutely plain, others are decorated with vintage style lace or may have a design embroidered or painted onto the pillow. It may be that you want someone to make the pillow for you with the intention of it being handed down through the family to be used in future weddings.
The most popular option is for a ring bearer to be appointed who will carry the rings, tied to the cushion, immediately behind the bridesmaids and, if they are young, they can be assisted by the Chief Bridesmaid. The ring bearer may be your page boy, flower girl, one of your Bridesmaids or possibly an Usher. The rings are carried up the aisle and then held on the pillow until it is time for the exchange of rings. The pillow is then passed to the Best Man who unties the rings and passes them to the Bride and Groom.
The ring bearer then carries the empty pillow up the aisle at the end of the ceremony and passes it to an adult for safe keeping.
