  Christmas Lights and Arches

High quality Christmas Welcome Lights and Candle Arches, Outdoor Lights plus a large range of Spare Christmas Light Bulbs by Konst Smide.
Nothing evokes the warmth and joy of Christmas like a light at a window. The beautiful Christmas Candle Arches that we now supply have become more popular every year in Britain with an increasing range of colours and styles. Our Candle Arches are made by Konst Smide, a Swedish company, for quality, authenticity and reliability. The original simple wooden designs remain firm favourites but red, white and black arches are now also very popular, and we have a range of them all. We have a range of designs from the simplest contemporary style arches to the carved more ornate arches.
Konst Smide produce quality Christmas lights from their base in Sweden, and we carry the arches as far as possible right through to Christmas. We also stock spare bulbs for all our items, and many that we have had in the past. It isn't often that spares are needed, but inevitably the bulbs go from time to time.
Welcome candle arches have been traditional in Scandinavia at Christmas for centuries. The tradition came about because in Sweden at Christmas there is very little light. Being as far North as they are, in some parts of the country within the Arctic Circle, the days are very short indeed, or there is little more than a lightening of the sky in the middle of the day. In a cold, dark environment the onset of the festive season brings with it the desire to add light and warmth and to create an atmosphere that is welcoming and wonderful. Originally, these arches that shone out from the windows of people's homes would have held five or seven candle holders into which were placed wax candles, and these would be lit and allowed to burn, to provide a welcome light to those outside but also as a way of providing light indoors. Although candlelight has it's own unique charm, it is unnecessary, and of course a bit of a hazard particularly where they are going to be left unattended around the house.
All of these fabulous welcome lights are mains powered and the leads that are supplied are usually plenty long enough for most common purposes. However, an extension lead will always allow them to be used a bit further from the socket, and we also carry a range of beautiful lit Christmas scenes that are battery powered. They won't provide as intense a light as the arches but they do create a wonderful scene for a quiet corner.
We would recommend placing your Christmas arch on a window sill and switching it on each evening throughout advent until twelfth night to create that wonderful welcoming light and warm atmosphere.
